The Insurance Forum, organized by the Macau Insurance Industry Professionals Association (MIIPA) and co-organized by the Chinese Underwriters Club (CUC) and City University of Macau, was held on 21st June 2023 at HG02, Ho Yin Convention Centre, City University of Macao, Taipa. The forum focused on two hot topics, including the sharing of experience and foresight on the need for Macau and Hong Kong vehicles going northbound; the other toipc was a discussion on the development strategies of insurance talents in Hong Kong and Macau. 

The first topic was presented by two insurance professionals from Macau and Hong Kong, Mr. Alex Choi from MIIPA and Mr. Thomas Yau from CUC, who shared their experience of the seven months of implementation of the insurance scheme for Macau vehicles going northbound with the industry in both places. After the speakers from both sides finished their sharing, a discussion session was held to discuss the possible problems encountered by the participants, and the speakers and guests answered them one by one.

The theme of the second session was to explore the future development and mobility of insurance professionals in Hong Kong and Macau. The local speakers, Mr. Ivan Cheung from MIIPA, Dr. Tony Lee and Mr. Clement Hau from CUC, presented their insights and suggestions on the theme, exploring different possible difficulties, as well as the practices and opportunities of the Macau and Hong Kong governments in attracting foreign talents, and analyzing the impact of the talent introduction system on the manpower markets of the two places.

In addition, the two associations that hosted the forum also signed a strategic cooperation agreement between Hong Kong and Macau, laying a solid foundation for future academic exchanges and development.

The Insurance Forum was attended  by Mr. Wilson Vong, Executive Director of the Monetary Authority of Macau, Ms. Doris Chan, Director of Insurance Supervision Department of AMCM, Ms. Cally Kwan, President of the General Assembly of the Macau Society of Registered Accountants, Mr. Jose Alves, Dean and Professor, Faculty of Business, of the City University of Macau, Mr. Arthur Ho, President of CUC, Mr. Ivan Cheung, President of the MIIPA, representatives from the Macau Association of Banks, Macau Insurance Association, Macau Society of Accountants, Macau Financial Practitioners Association, Macau Professional Insurance Intermediaries Association and Macau Insurance Intermediaries Association.
